On the grid: Communications in an entirely online world

Christopher Daguimol, Regional PR Director, ZALORA

The immense opportunities of the online world continue to draw attention. Our first speaker event of the year - “On the grid” - attracted a full house of business communicators who came to hear how ZALORA operates in an entirely online world.

Launched in March 2012, ZALORA aims to redefine high-street fashion in its target market of 570 million people in South East Asia and Australia. To date, more than 3 million unique customers have purchased on ZALORA.

With extensive experience in business communications, now ZALORA’s Regional PR Director, Christopher Daguimol talked about a data-driven approach in PR work at the speaker event. Data helps identify and predict trends before they hit their peak in the media world. In stakeholder management, it helps the company identify opinions, how they change over time and how they affect PR activities.

“Data can help turn PR language into business language. It helps us go beyond storytelling as it transforms messaging into a quantifiable, results-driven tool for business success”, he said.

A most interesting part of the sharing was when Christopher talked about why ZALORA decided to open a physical pop-up store in Tsimshatsui, Hong Kong; and how the shop has helped the online store “migrate” its potential customers from the off-line world to become their online customers.

The IABC Hong Kong Chapter would like to thank KPMG Hong Kong for sponsoring the venue for the speaker event.
